- Social proof before you have many customersYou do not need hundreds of customers to be believable. What counts as honest social proof for a small business, where to place it on the page, and the shortcuts that quietly destroy trust.
- How to announce a price increase without losing the roomRaising prices is rarely what drives customers away; a surprise does. What to put in the announcement, how much notice to give, when grandfathering helps, and what to watch after the change.
- Win back the customers who went quietPast customers who drifted away already trust you and know what you sell. How to sort the quiet ones, what an honest win-back email says, and when to stop writing.
- Write the comparison page before someone else doesIf your prospects keep comparing you to a rival, write that comparison yourself. Why honest "you vs them" pages convert, what to put on one, and the rules that keep it credible.
- Your best week is a bad baselineYour best week feels like the new normal, but it is usually the luckiest week you will have. Why record weeks make terrible baselines, and how to set goals against a median you can actually trust.
- The sale that shows up two weeks lateBuyers rarely pay the week they first click, so a Friday review sees a fraction of a campaign's results. How to measure your own conversion lag, what to watch while you wait, and when a verdict is actually due.
- Nobody reads your homepage in orderA first visit is a few seconds of scanning, not a read. The three questions every visitor arrives with, where to answer them on the page, and a five-second test that shows you which homepage you actually have.
- The words your customers actually useThe feature name you invented is not the phrase anyone searches for. Where to find the words your customers already use, what one page in their phrasing is worth, and why you should still keep your own name for it.
- One announcement is not a launchOne announcement reaches maybe a third of your audience, once, on a day they were busy. The arithmetic behind that, how to plan the repeats before the launch date, and how to tell a reach problem from a demand problem.
- The trial length is a marketing decisionAlmost every trial is fourteen days, and almost nobody chose fourteen days. How to derive the length from your own time-to-first-result, why longer is not free, and the two groups you have to measure separately.
- Your reply time is a conversion rateThe slowest part of your funnel is often the gap between a form fill and a human reply. The arithmetic on that gap, why it is usually a missed message rather than laziness, and the median to start tracking.
- Every field you add costs you signupsEach field on your signup form has a price nobody quotes you. How to work out what one costs, the question every field must answer, when a longer form is genuinely right, and the two numbers to count.
- What your open rate is actually measuringOpen rate counts image loads, not readers: mail apps preload and scanners fetch. What the number can still tell you, why clicks are cleaner but not clean, and which figure to watch instead.
- What a discount actually costsTwenty percent off can cost a third of your profit, most of it given to people who would have paid full price. The arithmetic to run first, the three cases where a discount is the right tool, and how to measure one honestly.
- When the same people keep seeing your adFrequency is the number in your ad account that explains why a campaign quietly stops working. How to tell a tired ad from an exhausted audience, which one your chart is showing, and what to change first.
- Bidding on people who already knew youYour brand campaign has the best numbers in the account and deserves the least credit. How to tell defence from acquisition, run a two-week holdout, and stop blending the two into one flattering average.
- Three tools, three numbers, one signupYour ad account, your analytics and your own records will never agree about last week. Why each answers a different question, which one to believe for which decision, and how to spot a gap that is a real bug.
- Run the ad before you build the thingA demand test costs one evening and a hundred dollars: one ad, one page, one promise, and a number you agreed to respect before you spent anything. What it tells you, and the three ways it lies.
- Slow month, or just the calendar?Month-over-month charts quietly pit two different seasons against each other. How to tell a seasonal lull from a broken funnel before you cut the budget, rewrite the page, or kill a campaign that was fine.
- The best post to write next is one you already wroteMost blogs keep publishing into a pile of pages nobody revisits. How to spot the handful of old posts worth rewriting, what a real refresh actually changes, and how long to wait before judging it.
- Ask while they are still delightedThe customer who just told you they love your product is the best proof you will ever get, and the feeling has a shelf life of hours. Here is when to ask, what to ask for, and why the quarterly testimonial round-up fails.
- The signup is not the finish lineThe last thing your ad account, your analytics and your landing page all agree on is the form being filled in, so that is where everyone draws the finish line. Move it one step down and half your channel rankings change.
- Fix the page before you buy more trafficDoubling your traffic and doubling your conversion rate give you the same number of customers, but one of them you rent and the other you own. When to fix the page first, and how to tell whether it worked.
- Put the price on the pageHiding your price makes the leads you get visible and the ones you lose invisible. Here is what a published number actually costs you, what to do when your pricing genuinely varies, and how to tell if it worked.
- Write down who it is forMost marketing decisions feel slow because nobody wrote down who the product is for. Here is how to find that sentence in evidence you already have, and why the narrow version usually beats the one that fits everyone.
- Doubling the budget is a new campaignOne campaign finally returns more than it costs, and the reflex is to triple it. Here is why the extra money buys worse results, and how to raise a budget in steps you can still read.
- You are probably under-emailing your listThe draft has been ready for nine days and you still have not sent it, because you do not want to annoy anyone. Here is the arithmetic on how often to email, and the signals that actually mean you are sending too much.
- You can see their ads, not their resultsFourteen tabs of competitor research, and not one number in any of them. A live ad tells you it exists, never what it costs or returns. Here is what competitor research is actually good for, and what to use instead.
- Too small to A/B testEvery growth article says to split your traffic and test. At a few hundred visitors a week that test cannot resolve. Here is the arithmetic, and the three things to do instead.
- One channel until it worksBeing on five channels at once feels like sensible hedging. In practice it means none of them ever gets a real attempt. Here is the arithmetic for running one properly, and how to know when to add the second.
- Your inbox is the content calendarMost content calendars start as empty boxes you then have to fill. The questions people already ask you are a better source: real demand, real phrasing, and a first draft you have written once already.
- Two kinds of zeroA row reads zero for six weeks, so you cut the channel. But a real zero and an unrecorded one print the same character, and only one of them is a result. Here is how to tell them apart before you decide.
- Ask them how they found youYour analytics says the visit was direct. The person says a friend sent them a screenshot. One optional question on the signup form gets you the half of the story no link tag was ever able to record.
- The draft that waits for youAutomation nobody reviews has to be cautious, because everything it makes goes straight to real people. Automation that cannot reach anyone without your yes is free to be wrong, and that changes how much you let it try.
- The welcome email everyone opensThe message that goes out the minute somebody signs up reaches a reader who chose you seconds ago. That is the most attention you will ever have, and most small products spend it on nothing at all.
- One goal, one numberEvery campaign reports a wall of numbers, all of them true and none of them a verdict. Watch five and one is always up, so you can never be wrong — and never learn. Pick the one number before you launch.
- Marketing on thirty minutes a dayThirty minutes a day is two and a half hours a week, and most of it disappears into looking rather than making. A weekly routine that survives a bad month gives each day one job and cuts the rest.
- When your ad and your page disagreeSomeone taps your ad and lands on your page. For about a second they are checking one thing only: am I in the right place? If the ad and the page answer that differently, the click is spent and the visit is over.
- Reading a dip without panickingTraffic drops eighteen percent and you have a theory within a minute. The theory is probably wrong. Here is how to tell an ordinary wobble from a real break before you rewrite a page that was fine.
- UTM tags you can still read in six monthsOpen a report from a campaign you ran six months ago and count how many rows are the same campaign spelled differently. Link tags fail quietly, and the fix is a naming scheme small enough to keep by hand.
- When to kill a campaign, and when it just needs a weekTwo hundred dollars in, two signups out. Is that a losing campaign or one that has not said anything yet? Most kill decisions get made on a number too small to mean anything in either direction. Here is how to tell them apart.
- Ten thousand views and nobody cameA short video collects ten thousand views and the site records ninety visits that day. Neither number is lying to you. They measure three different things, and only one of them ever decides whether a channel is worth your time.
- What actually moves your search positionsYour average position can fall in a week where you did everything right, and rise in a week where you did nothing at all. Here is what genuinely moves rankings month to month, and what to ignore all week long.
- The unsubscribe you should be glad aboutHow often should you email your list? Everyone wants a number back, and the number is not what decides whether a list survives. What burns a list is sending when you have nothing for the reader.
- What the first $100 of ad spend can tell youA hundred dollars buys roughly sixty-seven clicks. That is enough to price the auction and judge whether your ad earns attention, and nowhere near enough to judge whether your product converts.
- Every campaign launches pausedAn engine that can spend money automatically is one bug from spending it wrong, continuously, while you sleep. So every ad campaign SiteOps builds goes live paused, spending nothing until a human flips the switch.
- The claim linter: catching numbers your AI made upAn AI copywriter reaches for confident specifics — cut your workload in half, join thousands of teams — and invents the proof. A claim linter reads each draft, flags any assertion the system cannot back, and refuses to ship it.
- When to skip the send: a scheduler that can say noA scheduled email that fires into a broken landing page is worse than no email. We made 'skip' a first-class outcome, not a failure — here is the guard list a scheduler runs before it lets a send go out.
- One ops room instead of nine dashboardsGA4, Amplitude, Search Console, Bing, a backlink tool, a payment dashboard, YouTube Studio, Instagram insights, two ad managers. None of them answer the only morning question that matters: is this product OK today? The fix is not another tool that replaces them. It is a room that reads them.
